Why the Sony NEX 5R?

The Sony NEX 5R has a number of attributes like focus peak, tilting LCD screen, customizable controls and display, which make it ideal to use with inexpensive manual focus lenses, such as the East German Pentacon and Flektogon, the Russian Helios and Jupiter, the Olympus OM, or the screw-in Pentax lenses among many others.

This article describes the camera in some detail and explains why I gave preference to the Sony NEX 5R over such comparable alternatives as the Fujifilm X-E1 or the Olympus OM-D E-M5.

Fitting a monster Pentacon 500mm lens to the Sony NEX 5R

The Pentacon 500mm f/5.6 lens is a monster. It weighs a ton, but otherwise is a fine lens. Fitted to the Sony NEX 5R it is capable of some great long focus shots, although color fringing can be a problem. Find out more from this post.
